The moment you install Skype Lite on Google Phone, G1, via the Android Market the first message that pops is this:
Receiving calls will use your Skype Credit. Would you like to receive Skype calls?
Skype Lite on G1 is not yet a true VOIP service. It uses your mobile service provider to connect to a local number that then connects to your desired recipient’s number.
Skype Lite does not yet support Wifi and 3G connections to make your calls truly free from extra charges.
Still it’s a major step to accomplishing an integrated Skype to Mobile and vice-versa connection. I just made a successful call to the Philippines. So I’m happy.
