Gmail users don’t need to open two URLs to read email (mail.google.com) and edit documents (docs.google.com). Gmail added a Google Docs gadget that allows you to access and search documents from within Gmail and even attach a document’s link. To add a link, just drag the document to the message box. See image below.
To set the Google Docs gadget feature, go to Settings > Labs.
