Guy Kawasaki: Plan B for Fund Raising

From OpenForum.com:

  1. You get $100,000 of funds from your friends and family. You have no salary, live with your parents, keep your day job, have no office, and everything you use is Open Source.
  2. You hang out in the lobbies of hotels where events are held. You suck up to bloggers. You get on Twitter.
  3. You release your product albeit late. You wrote Mike Arrington a compelling one-paragraph message on a Friday afternoon.
  4. Miracle happens. Month to month, you’re showing 10-15% growth, and monetization has started.
  5. Now you have options. You can contact venture capitalists to raise capital to expand your business. You can continue to bootstrap and grow by using your cashflow. You can agree to meet with Google, Yahoo!, Fox Interactive, or any company that has noticed you.
