Friendfeed is a service that allows you to share feeds from over 28 services and allows others to make comments and “likes” to those shared feeds. The service is simple and easy to use that allow for interesting conversations to happen in a unique platform. Imagine a stream of feeds from you and your friends with updated comments that forms a discussion on possibly each of the feed. The service is engaging that, in fact, recently, it has been my second online stop after reading my emails. There is a variety of feeds including videos, photos, blogs, tweets, movies, music, etc. Again, in each feed, you can start a conversation by commenting.
This is not the first time we covered Friendfeed. But, apparently, now, any new aggregating service will have to deal with the standards set by Friendfeed. It’s not enough to just aggregate feeds anymore or aggregate them and allow for direct replies. Friendfeed has raised the bar or the expectations for new services to be better or at par with Friendfeeds’ conversational approach — otherwise, tough game.
This converstation standard no doubt contributed to the development of other services. Such as the new Quotably for Twitter posts. Those that will not adapt, however, will again find it tough to attract users.
